Tales from the Road: Medica, Dusseldorf

After years of being told by the organizers of Medica Dusseldorf that there was no new booth space available for Vasomedical, last week we were finally able to participate as exhibitors in the largest medical industry fair in the world: Medica.

At the conference in Dusseldorf, Germany, we exhibited our EECP Therapy and Biox ECG Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring products. In addition, this has been an excellent platform for the introduction of MobiCare™, our new innovative wireless patient monitors. We exhibited along with more than 4,500 medical industry companies, and showcased our products to more than100,000 visitors. Judging by the busy traffic in our booth, I am sure this year’s show broke all attendance records.

The response from attendees at Medica to our current products was excellent. We received visits from customers who use our products and distributors who sell our products. We’ve also received visits from customers and distributors who are currently, or have previously, used our competitor’s products – they heard about our products and wanted to see them first hand. Amongst all the visitors to our booth we saw both higher name recognition for Vasomedical EECP and Biox products, as well as an increased number of visitors who have put Vasomedical EECP and Biox products on their schedules for visits to our booth.

Tales from the Road: Vasomedical Visits Amsterdam for ESC Conference

We just recently returned from the 2013 European Society of Cardiology Congress (ESC) which was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands this year. It was an enjoyable and rewarding trip for many reasons.

First, the ESC issued new guidelines for the treatment of stable angina and assigned EECP® Therapy a lla Level of Recommendation with a B Level of Evidence. The inclusion of EECP Therapy in the guidelines provides not only recognition of the Therapy by the European cardiology community, but the recommendation that it should be considered when treating refractory angina patients.

This news brought many visitors to our exhibit booth. They came to see what the Therapy looked like in person and see exactly how it operated. We had a live model and our Clinical Manager, Bill Seychell, providing live demonstrations. Additionally, as the crowds grew in the aisles surrounding our booth, it presented a great opportunity for visitors to learn about the additional products we were displaying, including the Biox ECG Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and our EZ patient monitoring products line.

Additionally, the two abstracts presented on EECP Therapy – one by Eline Wu, RN from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, the other by Dr. Vyacheslav Ryabov from Tomsk, Russia – were well received and motivated more visitors to visit our booth.

Amsterdam is a beautiful city and we were lucky to check out some of the great sites it has to offer, such as the National Museum, which had just returned to its newly renovated site.  We were able to get close and view the many famous paintings in its collection, including Rembrandt’s Night Watch.

One can go from one end of the spectrum to the other easily in Amsterdam – from the sobriety of Anne Frank’s House Museum to the fun and enjoyment of the Heineken Experience, Old Town streets, coffee houses, restaurants and shops. The beauty and uniqueness of the city is easily seen from a canal boat ride, a bicycle or a walk through the markets and squares. Just be careful not to get run over by the hundreds of cyclists who fill the bike lanes and speed down the sidewalks!

Tales from the Road: The American Diabetes Association

We have just wrapped up our first exhibition at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) meeting in Chicago – which was a great experience and showed us that there is more opportunity to expand the reach of EECP® Therapy than ever before!

The show lasted from June 21st through 25th and was well attended with approximately 14,000 attendees from across the United States and around the world. The Vasomedical booth had a steady flow of interested attendees, and we spent a great deal of time educating attendees about EECP Therapy and the benefits it can have for patients.

The people we spoke with were fascinated to learn that EECP Therapy can provide relief to patients with angina symptoms such as chest or atypical pain, shortness of breath and fatigue, among others. This event was so relevant to our business because many patients with diabetes also have ischemic heart disease and can experience angina symptoms despite being on maximal medication. To our delight, numerous attendees commented that when they return home they are planning to speak to their cardiologists and hospitals about the positive effects EECP Therapy can have on their patients.

The attendees were interested to learn more about the clinical evidence recently published by the researchers at the University of Florida in Gainesville demonstrating the positive effects of EECP Therapy on glucose tolerance and insulin resistance.

At the exhibition, we also saw a great deal of interest in our BIOX ECG Holters and ambulatory blood pressure monitors as well as our EZ® pulse oximeters.

We thought the ADA was a successful conference, as we were able to raise awareness for EECP Therapy in this new patient population. We are continuing to learn more about diabetic patients and the potential impact EECP Therapy can have on this patient group’s quality of life.  We hope by next year’s ADA we have even more insight to share!

Next stop: Amsterdam, Netherlands!

Tales from the Road: Hospitalar 2013

After three days of exhibiting at the Hospitalar 2013 meeting in São Paulo, we are even more convinced that Brazil will be an excellent market for EECP Therapy!

At the exhibition, Vasomedical displayed and demonstrated its core technology, EECP Therapy, its Biox ambulatory monitoring products and its EZ series patient management products. Visiting physicians and healthcare professionals expressed particular interest in how EECP technology can help patients with cardiovascular disease as well as significantly reduce healthcare costs.

We met with attendees from across the globe who were extremely pleasant and welcoming to the Vasomedical team and our products. It was a great experience participating in this event and understanding how we can expand our presence in South America.

The icing on the cake: we are in the process of registering Vasomedical and Biox products for sale in Brazil, putting us in a great position to build relationships for the near future!

Make sure to stay tuned for more tales from around the globe as we continue to showcase and educate the healthcare industry about EECP Therapy technology and our other offerings.

Next stop: New York, NY!

Tales from the Road: Africa Health Exhibition and Congress 2013

This week, we have been showcasing our technology at Africa Health Exhibition and Congress 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Reminiscent of when we first introduced EECP Therapy to the U.S. market in1995 at medical shows, the response of attendees at the South African Healthcare meeting this week was met by a variety of responses – from surprise to excitement. Many attendees were surprised to see such a well-documented treatment for the first time. They asked:  why have we never heard of this before?!

Physicians, nurses, hospital administrators and government officials all were curious to check it out and learn more about the technology and its benefits. They spent time with us in our booth to watch demonstrations and listen to our presentations to learn for the first time what this technology was all about and the life-changing impact it can have for those with heart conditions.

Attendees were also very interested in our Biox ECG Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitors as well as our patient management products.

We met with attendees from across the globe including South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Egypt, Algeria and the UAE. We believe that the reception of our products and the relationships we established will help us reach our goal of expanding sales in the African region.

Stay tuned for more tales from around the world as we continue to showcase and educate EECP Therapy technology and our other offerings. Next stop: Sao Paulo, Brazil!
