November 25, 2011 Editorial on EECP® Therapy by Dr. Gregory Barsness of Mayo Clinic Appears in the Inaugural Edition of ONE HEART Magazine
WESTBURY, N.Y. November 25, 2011 –An editorial on EECP® therapy by Dr. Gregory Barsness, Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic, was published last week in the first edition of One Heart magazine, a Global Alliance project of Heartbeat International, and has ben distributed to cardiologists, healthcare managers and government services throughout the USA and some foreign countries. EECP® therapy is a noninvasive, outpatient treatment for patients who suffer from the symptoms and limitations of angina (including the angina equivalents of fatigue and shortness of breath) and congestive heart failure. The editorial by Dr. Barsness, entitled “EECP Therapy: A Treatment for Heart Failure via Improvement in Endothelial Dysfunction,” discussed the benefits of EECP® therapy for the treatment of angina and heart failure and cited several studies on the mechanisms of action, particularly the endothelial function improvement and associated effects. Dr. Barsness concluded that “Given the strong evidence that EECP is effective in improving endothelial dysfunction, the potential use and benefit of EECP in patients with heart failure is an attractive consideration.” To read the editorial and see the advertisement for EECP® in the magazine go to www.oneheartmagazine.com and flip to page 34.
